WHY I'M RUNNING
I am running for Trustee because I believe Pasadena City College deserves a Board that listens carefully, brings different perspectives to the table, protects the public investment in our college, and keeps opportunities open for the next generation.
I don't come to this role representing one particular school, program, or constituency. I see that as an opportunity to listen broadly and approach the college with an open mind.
My background is in communications. For more than 30 years, I have built relationships, listened to clients, solved problems, connected ideas, and communicated with different audiences. I believe those experiences have value on a college Board.
I will come prepared to listen, ask questions, learn from the people who know PCC best, and bring different perspectives together.
LISTEN TO EVERY VOICE
A good Trustee starts by listening.
I want to hear directly from students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, employers, and the communities PCC serves.
What is working? Where are the gaps? What opportunities are being missed?
My responsibility as a Trustee would be to listen, ask questions, and bring those perspectives back to the Board so decisions reflect the needs of the entire college community.
BRING DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES TO THE TABLE
Strong institutions benefit from people who bring different experiences and strengths.
What I bring is more than 30 years of experience building relationships, listening to people, connecting ideas, and communicating with our community.
My career taught me that successful organizations listen, understand what matters to them, find common ground, and build relationships based on trust.
I would bring that same approach to the Board: a fresh perspective, a willingness to learn, and respect for the expertise of the educators and professionals who know PCC best.
PROTECT THE PUBLIC INVESTMENT
PCC is an investment in our entire community.
You don't have to have a student at Pasadena City College for PCC to matter to you. Our community college provides opportunities for students who may not otherwise have access to higher education or career training. It prepares nurses, technicians, tradespeople, business professionals, and other workers our communities depend on.
That makes PCC an important part of our local economy and our community's future.
As a Trustee, I would take seriously my responsibility to make sure public resources are used wisely and transparently. I would also work to protect and strengthen the college's ability to compete for grants, partnerships, and private support.
Every taxpayer deserves transparency, and every donor's wishes deserve to be respected.
EXPAND OPPORTUNITY
A strong community college can change the trajectory of a student's life.
It can provide a second chance, a first opportunity, a new career, or a path to a four-year degree. It can also help fill the workforce our communities need—from skilled trades to healthcare and technology.
I want to help PCC continue connecting students with opportunity while strengthening the relationships between the college, local employers, community organizations, and the people it serves.
I also want to make sure families know what PCC has to offer before students begin thinking seriously about college. With my communications background, I see an opportunity to do a better job making families aware of PCC's resources, programs, and pathways while students are still in middle and high school.
College is not always an individual journey. Families need information, resources, and people who can help them understand their options.
I want to be part of making those connections.
MY COMMITMENT
I won't come to the Board believing I have all the answers.
I will come ready to listen.
I will ask questions.
I will bring people together.
I will respect the expertise of educators and professionals while contributing my own experience and perspective.
And I will work to make sure Pasadena City College remains a strong, accessible, and responsibly managed institution for the students and communities who depend on it.
